Ruta

The Bikeride Costa Brava road version is a long 385 km-ride, mostly through low trafficked side roads which have been designed to be completed in 3, 4 or 5 days, you can choose.

With Mataró as the starting and finishing point, this ride is routed through a variety of geographic features and it is divided into three parts:

► A very mountainous part through empty side roads in a rural area, flooded with small medieval villages. It passes through the Montseny Natural Park (World Biosphere Reserve), Sau Valley and Collsacabra, between Osona and La Garrotxa shires;

► An easier-to-ride part, with better roads and lower elevation gain and loss, although most of them are still low trafficked side roads. This part passes through Girona, leading to one of the most beautiful shires in Europe: Baix Empordà;

► A final third part which covers the Costa Brava from Tamariu to Mataró, through coves, fishing villages, beaches and hills.

Although the main starting point is in Mataró, you also have the chance to start from Girona in case you land at Girona airport.

You can also ride just some of the stages, the ones you prefer. There is no need to complete the whole route. If you are looking for an alpine type of ride, we recommend the stages between Mataró and Girona, but if you prefer to enjoy the coast, the stages between Mataró and Tamariu are the right ones.

Level of difficulty:

The  BikerideCostaBrava Road route is a mid physical difficulty level route with no special technical difficulties to be taken into account. The route covers many kilometres of narrow side roads, so you only need to take extra precautions here. Even though, the route requires a little skill and regular bike riding practice.

We recommend completing the route in 4 days, the best combination between its physical demand and the possibility to enjoy it leisurely. However, it can be adapted to different levels by the possibility to complete it in 3, 4, or 5 days.

Stages: 3, 4 or 5 days

Ruta 1

The Bikeride Empordà road version is a 156 km circular route, mostly through low trafficked side roads which have been designed to be completed in 2 days. You can stay one day longer, whether in Girona, Tamariu or Llafranc and do some tourism around.

This route starts in the town of Girona, with a first mid-mountain stage through the Massís de les Gavarres and on to the Baix Empordà and its medieval villages up to Tamariu.

From this point, we offer a second stage which runs from Tamariu to Calonge, among coves, fishing villages, beaches and small hills. The way back to Girona runs along two small mountain passes of low difficulty, allowing us to better knowing the Gavarres.

Level of difficulty:

The Medieval Empordà route is a mid-low physical difficulty level route with no technical difficulties, so all you need is to be used to some road bike outings to be able to complete it easily.

Stages: 2 days
